The Collective of Independent Publishers and Authors (CIPA) is a nonprofit 501 (c) (6) trade association of authors, independent book publishers, and publishing business professionals.
In 1992, a small group of independent publishers founded CIPA as a lunch group in Colorado. Evelyn Kaye was CIPA’s first president and is the namesake of the annual CIPA EVVY Awards.
Dedicated to supporting authors, publishers, and service providers, CIPA empowers its members through essential networking opportunities, diverse educational programs, and successful professional development. It is committed to providing members the tools and support they need to make their mark in the world of publishing.
AI STATEMENT
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is the new frontier in technology. There are AI tools that can increase efficiency and productivity for authors and publishers. Here at CIPA, our stance is that while AI can help with everyday tasks, we want to emphasize that human creativity should remain just that–human. Books should be written by authors, and artwork should be created by artists.
We are happy to discuss this policy and also how to use various AI tools to help with marketing, research, and more. Thank you.
